“The principle is simple”, explains Blue Water Supplies’ managing director, Julian Buesnel, “we have developed kits to suit different levels using modern components and then packaged them in a variety of ways to suit a range of applications. The smallest kit, the 30 is available in a waterproof pouch as a personal kit for deck crew or wind surfers, in a genuine submersible Peli Micro case for jet-skis and dinghies or alternatively in a clam pack as a refill. The rest of the family gets a similar treatment up to the 180, which is available in either, a soft pouch or a Peli protector case. The contents go beyond those of most first aid kits. Even the 30 comes with a resuscitation aid and an eye wash pod (which is also great for cleaning wounds). The 180 includes an instant ice pack, eye wash pods, gloves, a foil blanket as well as modern dressings and the usual bits and pieces. “All too often I come across kits on boats that have been neglected”, comments The First Aid Pharmacist, Ian Hardy, “Few people are aware of the range of components now available, let alone where to get them.
