Emergency Vessel Repair

If you are unfortunate enough to experience some form of hole below the waterline, having the right equipment to deal with it could save your crews lives and even your vessel.

Whilst some damage is clearly going to be beyond repair, simple yet effective equipment can easily prevent the loss of your vessel. Watertight bulkheads are not common on pleasure craft, yet their benefits are well recognized. Being able to determine just where the leak is, is half the battle. If you can, then you may be able to do something about it.

Lets assume that you do know where the leak is, what an you do. The traditional method of wooden bungs and rag can be effective and can give you valuable minutes to assess the problem in more detail. A device know as a Subrella is also an extremely effective way of stemming a leak. It is essentially a variation of an umbrella that is pushed through the hole. It can then be opened, using the pressure of water acting against the hull to its advantage, it patches the hole and provides an excellent temporary repair. (This item is currently out of production although we have some stocks remaining).

The Kollision kit is an epoxy repair kit. It contains all you need to effect a semi-permanent repair. A quick setting epoxy, which can even cure under water, is spread over a durable patch that is then held over the leak long enough for it to set. An extremely effective solution!
