A new concept in flexible ladders.

The bulky rung or tube of previous rope ladders is replaced with a carbon fibre rod. The unique feature of the design is the insertion of this rod into a sleeve of tubular braid, which in turn is sewn to webbing side members.

THE FIBRELIGHT LADDER is constructed using 10mm diameter carbon fibre rods inside polyester tubular braid sewn to polyester webbing side members. The tread width is 15cm and the tread spacing is 30cm. A ten metre ladder without shackle weighs just one kilogram. Standard production lengths are 5, 10 and 20 metres; other lengths can be produced against order.

Colours available include black treads with red side members, all black and all yellow. The polyester fibre provides the optimum resistance to photo-degradation and minimum extension. Complete with zip top bag for easy deployment.

APPLICATIONS ON BOARD

· Mast Access, for example freeing halyards, changing bulbs and replacing the wind indicator.

· Overboard Recovery, as pointed out by Pete Goss, the FIBRELIGHT when buoyed perhaps by a fender will enable a crewmember in the water to get an arm or leg through and hang on, even when injured or hypothermic.

· Boarding, the textile construction eliminates the risk of damage to the topsides of a yacht or tubes of an inflatable, rib or life raft.

FIBRELIGHT LADDERS have to date been supplied to: - Nick Maloney on Skandia for the Vendee Globe and Transat, Marines, Special forces, Police Forces and fitted to helicopters, trains and cranes.

Standard lengths for Fibrelight ladders are 5m,10m, 15m and 20m.
